She is surrounded by other Council Members, City staff and others involved in the creation of the community. True North Longmont Celebrates Grand Opening True North is a new, affordable and attainable for-purchase housing community featuring modern home designs. The community celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, May 28 and is a partnership between the City of Longmont, the Golden family (longtime Longmont residents), and local developer Vertikal. Construction began in October 2024 and will roll out over four phases. Phase 1 is almost complete and consists of 52 homes with several different size and design options. The community will ultimately offer 185 homes. The idea for True North came from a shared vision to increase opportunities for affordable home ownership for Longmont families. The Golden family, who have lived in Longmont for five generations, saw that many families were unable to find homes they could afford. Reggie Golden supported Longmont’s plan for affordable housing and sold the property to the City for less than market value. “I want to recognize the partnership that made True North possible,” said Longmont City Manager, Harold Dominguez. The landowner, the state, the developer and the bank all worked together on creative solutions to create affordable and attainable housing in our City.” Prices for homes in the community begin at $358,500. Learn more on the True North website. Shred old documents – for free – before your home looks like this. Bring up to three file-size boxes of personal documents to Green Girl Recycling. Q: How does the City of Longmont decide when and where to spray for mosquitoes? A: VDCI (Vector Disease Control International), the City’s contractor for adult mosquito control, conducts their operations based on specific criteria. ULV adult mosquito control commences within the City when: 1.) Mosquitos found in traps strategically placed throughout the City reach more than 150 mosquitoes, and 2.) A positive identification of West Nile Virus is found in a mosquito within the three-county area of Weld, Larimer and Boulder Counties. Q: Can community members request notification of spraying, or have their property bypassed? A: VDCI maintains a database of Longmont residents that have made notification or shutoff requests for their property if spraying is scheduled. You can request to be notified before spraying occurs in your neighborhood, ask the spray machine to be shut off when driving past your property, or both. They ask that you please specify your preference on the VDCI website this year, even if you have done so in the past.
