SWIM RISK ALERT: The National Weather Service (NWS) Gaylord, MI has issued a Beach Hazards Statement effective immediately until 8:00 PM EDT this evening, September 30, for Benzie, Manistee, Western Mackinac, and Eastern Mackinac Counties, as well as Beaver Island and surrounding islands. Residents and visitors are advised to remain out of the water due to dangerous swimming conditions.

High waves and rip currents are expected, with waves potentially reaching 3 to 5 feet. These conditions create a high swim risk, meaning life-threatening waves and currents are anticipated.

ACTION REQUIRED: The NWS strongly advises against entering the water. Additionally, the public should stay away from dangerous areas such as piers and breakwalls. Heed all warnings to ensure personal safety.
