Sevier County Earns Fourth Straight Clean Audit
Sevier County received a clean audit from the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury for fiscal year 2025, marking four consecutive years without findings.
Only 15 counties statewide achieved clean audits for the year. A clean audit means county financial records were accurate and compliant with accounting standards.
County Mayor Larry Waters said the achievement reflects consistent commitment to managing public funds responsibly. "Our departments and officials take great pride in being good stewards of public funds," Waters said.
Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter credited coordination across multiple departments. "Clean audits don't happen by chance," McCarter said. "They are the product of coordination, accountability, and extensive behind-the-scenes work across multiple departments and offices."
Brooke Huffaker, assistant county mayor and senior director of finance and administration, attributed the result to staff diligence. "Their focus on accuracy, accountability, and strong internal processes is what makes results like this possible," Huffaker said.
