Special Weather Statement: 50 MPH Wind Gusts Near Myakka City

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for inland Manatee and Hardee counties until 3:15 PM EDT, warning of wind gusts up to 50 mph near Myakka City, according to the National Weather Service.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for inland Manatee and Hardee counties until 3:15 PM EDT today, October 9, 2026. Residents should monitor weather conditions closely and be alert for threatening weather.

The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Ruskin FL issued the statement at 2:44 PM EDT. Doppler radar indicated a shower near Myakka City, approximately 17 miles north of North Port, moving north at 35 mph.

The primary hazard is wind gusts up to 50 mph. These gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations expected to be impacted include Myakka City, Myakka Head, and Duette.

The statement is effective immediately and expires at 3:15 PM EDT. Residents in the affected areas are advised to monitor the weather situation closely and take precautions to secure outdoor items.
