BRADENTON BEACH – The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) of Bradenton Beach oversees and approves spending for projects within its designated overlay district. The city created the CRA on Feb. 5, 1992, to fund public projects that redevelop and enhance areas like Bridge Street.
The CRA's fiscal year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. The agency's committee includes the mayor, city commissioners and two invested residents or business owners. This group approves the use of budgeted and grant funds for projects, including the City Pier and Bridge Street.
Current leadership includes Chairman Scott Bear, Vice Chair Ralph Cole and Board Member Mayor John Chappie. Other board members are City Commissioner Deborah Scaccianoce, who also serves as Vice-Mayor, and City Commissioner Bob Talham.
Residents can access CRA documents, including amended plans, annual reports, budgets and audits. The most recent annual report available is for 2024. The latest budget documents are for Fiscal Year 2027. The CRA also offers a grant program to eliminate blight, beautify and revitalize the district.
