Residents in Roane, Loudon, Rhea, Meigs, McMinn, Northwest Monroe, Hamilton, Bradley, and West Polk counties are advised to drive with extreme caution this morning due to areas of dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Morristown, TN, issued a Special Weather Statement at 3:23 AM EDT, effective until 9:00 AM EDT today, October 12, 2026.

Visibility is significantly reduced, at times dropping below one-quarter mile, particularly near sheltered river valleys. Conditions are expected to gradually improve an hour or two after sunrise.

For those commuting this morning, the NWS urges motorists to slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow for extra distance between your vehicle and others. These precautions are critical to ensure safety during periods of reduced visibility.
