High Wind Warning: Secure Property, Expect Power Outages
A High Wind Warning is in effect for numerous Georgia counties from today, October 10, until Sunday, October 11, with winds up to 50 mph expected to cause power outages and difficult travel. Secure loose objects and use caution.
A High Wind Warning has been issued for numerous North and West Central Georgia counties, effective from 5:00 AM EDT today, October 10, until 8:00 AM EDT Sunday, October 11. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects immediately.
The National Weather Service Peachtree City GA has issued this warning for Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Banks, Jackson, Madison, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, North Fulton, Gwinnett, Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, Haralson, Carroll, Douglas, South Fulton, DeKalb, Rockdale, Walton, Newton, Coweta, Fayette, Clayton, Spalding, and Henry counties.
East winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Higher elevations in the north Georgia mountains may experience stronger gusts. These conditions are expected to cause widespread power outages due to downed trees and power lines. Travel is anticipated to be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
The public is advised to watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Exercise extreme caution if driving. Secure any items outdoors that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
