Heat Advisory Issued: Temperatures Up To 103°F Expected This Week

A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Hanford CA, effective from 11 AM PDT today, October 3, until 11 PM PDT on Tuesday, October 6. Residents are urged to take immediate precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
High temperatures are forecast to reach up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit, with the warmest conditions anticipated in the southern San Joaquin Valley. Overnight lows in the Sierra Foothills are expected to remain between 70 and 75 degrees, where the thermal belt is strongest.
This advisory affects a wide area including the West Side Mountains north of 198, Los Banos - Dos Palos, Merced - Madera - Mendota, Planada - Le Grand - Snelling, Coalinga - Avenal, West Side of Fresno and Kings Counties, Caruthers - San Joaquin - Selma, Fresno-Clovis, West Side Mountains South of 198, Buttonwillow - Lost Hills - I5, Delano-Wasco-Shafter, Hanford - Corcoran - Lemoore, Visalia - Porterville - Reedley, Buena Vista, Bakersfield, Southeast San Joaquin Valley, South End San Joaquin Valley, Mariposa Madera Foothills, Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, Fresno-Tulare Foothills, Fresno-Tulare Lower Sierra, South End Sierra Foothills, and the South End of the Lower Sierra.
The NWS warns of a moderate to major risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for individuals without effective cooling or hydration. To stay safe, drink plenty of fluids, seek air-conditioned environments, stay out of direct sun, and check on elderly relatives and neighbors.
