Heat Advisory Issued for Central Valley, Foothills Until Friday Night
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Central Valley and surrounding foothills until Friday night, with temperatures up to 101 degrees expected, posing a moderate to major risk of heat-related illnesses.
Residents across the San Joaquin Valley, Sierra Nevada foothills, and Coastal West Hills should prepare for a Heat Advisory in effect from today, October 7, at 4:37 AM PDT, until Friday, October 9, at 10:00 PM PDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Hanford, CA, issued this advisory due to anticipated high temperatures reaching up to 101 degrees Fahrenheit.
Overnight low temperatures in the Sierra and Coastal Range Foothills are expected to remain elevated, between 70 and 75 degrees, particularly in areas within the thermal belt. These conditions pose a moderate to major risk of heat-related illnesses for a significant portion of the population, especially for individuals without access to effective cooling or sufficient hydration.
To mitigate the risks associated with this heat, the NWS advises everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms whenever possible, and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to heat-related health issues, to ensure their safety and well-being during this period.
