Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Take Immediate Shelter in Choctaw, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Winston MS

Residents in Choctaw, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, and Winston counties in Mississippi are advised to take immediate shelter. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS, has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 10:00 PM CDT tonight, September 21.

At 9:22 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were detected along a line stretching from near Oktoc to near Betheden, moving east at 20 mph. These storms are capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. The NWS indicates that these conditions will impact areas including Betheden around 9:25 PM CDT.

Expected impacts include hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately.
