A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Macon, effective immediately, as of 6:57 AM CDT on October 9. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, advises residents to complete preparations before hazardous winds arrive. This warning is set to expire at 3:00 PM UTC today.

Macon is expected to experience winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with the potential for stronger winds between 39-57 mph. Limited damage to property such as porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Expect many large tree limbs to break and potential scattered power outages. Plan for hazardous wind of equivalent tropical storm force.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams could swell, leading to localized inundation. Heed any flood watches and warnings immediately.
