Tropical Storm Warning for Tuskegee: Prepare Immediately
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Tuskegee, with immediate action required to prepare for hazardous winds, moderate flooding, and the potential for multiple tornadoes, according to the NWS.
Tuskegee residents are urged to finalize preparations for hazardous conditions as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, issued this warning on October 8 at 10:27 PM CDT, effective immediately. The warning is set to expire on October 9 at 6:30 AM UTC (1:30 AM CDT).
Strong winds are anticipated, with forecasts of 10-20 mph and gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for winds reaching 39 to 57 mph. Residents should secure loose outdoor objects now. Limited damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and potential power outages.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate flooding is anticipated, which may necessitate evacuations and rescues. Creeks and rivers could swell, and some roads may become impassable due to flooding. Heed any flood watches and warnings.
There is also a significant threat of several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Tornadoes could cause considerable damage, power loss, and communications failures.
