Donate to GLCAP People Helping People Fund

People Helping People The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership People Helping People Fund helps residents in our communities meet needs that go above and beyond what we are able to provide through our grant-funded programs. For 31 years, GLCAP has been able to provide assistance for medical expenses, vehicle repairs, and other needs through the People Helping People Fund. Going above and beyond Donations to GLCAP People Helping People provide support for particular needs that go beyond those already covered by our existing grant-funded programs. The fund assists families in our programs with groceries, emergency expenses, and other needs that GLCAP is not able to cover through our grant-funded programs. This support may seem modest, but to a family that needs help repairing a vehicle, putting food in the cupboard, or paying down a utility bill, your support is everything. All contributions to the GLCAP People Helping People Fund are tax-deductible and go directly to our community members. No donations are used for administrative expenses, and all donations stay local. GLCAP Field Day in Scio Trains Utility Operators on Water Management

"The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) RCAP Program successfully hosted its 2026 Ohio Field Day on June 3 at the Scio Village Volunteer Fire Department. The day-long training event brought together utility operators, administrators, and community leaders for an engaging and practical learning experience focused on water and wastewater operations. Field Day featured a full schedule of interactive sessions, plant tours, and demonstrations designed to provide real-world insight into utility management and operations. Attendees explored topics ranging from Lead and Copper Rule updates and water audits to drone technology, GIS applications, and advanced inspection tools. Hands-on demonstrations, including valve exercising, manhole inspection techniques, and system rehabilitation, offered participants tangible skills they can apply in their own communities. Participants also benefitted from guided tours of the Scio Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant, as well as a Cybersecurity Workshop and multiple sessions focused on Infrastructure Funding and Asset Management. The event offered up to six hours of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) credit, reinforcing its value as both a training and professional development opportunity. A highlight of the day was the involvement of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA). The agency not only attended but also presented key updates during the opening session, with Ohio EPA’s Amy Klei sharing important regulatory insights. The agency provided highly positive feedback on the event, underscoring the importance of Field Day as a model for effective training and collaboration between state agencies and local utilities. Attendees echoed this enthusiasm, noting the relevance of the material and the diversity of topics offered. With strong participation, practical learning opportunities, and enthusiastic support from partners like Ohio EPA, GLCAP’s Field Day continues to serve as a valuable resource for strengthening Ohio’s water and wastewater systems.
