Drivers in parts of north Georgia are advised to slow down and use caution this morning due to patchy dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately, warning of reduced visibilities in several counties.

The affected areas include Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Banks, Jackson, Madison, Gwinnett, Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, and Oglethorpe counties. Visibility is expected to be restricted to one-half to one-quarter of a mile in some locations.

The NWS advises motorists to use low-beam headlights and maintain extra distance between vehicles. The fog is expected to lift after 10:00 AM EDT today, October 5, 2026. Exercise extreme caution during your morning commute.
