A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for George County, specifically affecting Lucedale, effective immediately as of October 9 at 1:02 PM CDT, and set to expire at 9:15 PM UTC today. The National Weather Service in Mobile, AL, has advised residents to move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

Peak wind gusts of up to 55 mph are anticipated. These winds have the potential to cause limited damage, including to porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect many large tree limbs to break, with some trees potentially snapping or uprooting. Scattered power and communications outages are possible, and some roads may become impassable due to debris.

Additionally, approximately 1 inch of rainfall is expected, with the potential for moderate flooding. Residents in flood-vulnerable areas should consider protective actions. There is little to no storm surge flooding expected, and tornadoes are not anticipated.
