Drivers in Marquette, Alger, Luce, Dickinson, Menominee, Delta, Southern Schoolcraft, and Northern Schoolcraft counties should exercise extreme caution this morning due to widespread, locally dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) Marquette has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately and expiring at 9:00 AM EDT today, September 26, 2026.
Webcams and satellite imagery confirm the formation of widespread fog across the eastern and central Upper Peninsula. Visibility may be reduced to less than one-quarter mile in some areas. The NWS advises all motorists to use low-beam headlights when traveling through the affected areas.
The fog is expected to dissipate shortly after sunrise. Residents are urged to adjust their morning commutes accordingly and prioritize safety.
