Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Move to Interior Rooms Now

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Choctaw, Lowndes, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, and Winston counties in Mississippi, effective immediately until 10:00 PM CDT tonight, September 21.

The National Weather Service in Jackson, MS, reports that severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Longview to near Ackerman at 8:52 PM CDT, moving southeast at 20 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.

Impacts are expected to include hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Affected areas include east central Choctaw County, northwestern Noxubee County, southern Oktibbeha County, northeastern Winston County, and southwestern Lowndes County. Specific locations in the path include Longview and Craig Springs around 9:00 PM CDT, Betheden around 9:10 PM CDT, and Oktoc around 9:15 PM CDT, with Millcreek around 9:20 PM CDT.
