Strong Thunderstorm Warning: Gusts up to 45 mph, Heavy Rain Expected

Residents in Madison, Greene, Fayette, Pickaway, Clinton, and Ross counties should prepare for a strong thunderstorm with wind gusts up to 45 mph and very heavy rain. The National Weather Service (NWS) Wilmington OH issued a Special Weather Statement today, September 20, 2026, at 9:10 PM EDT, effective until 10:15 PM EDT.

At 9:10 PM EDT, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm located over Jamestown, moving east at 35 mph. This system is expected to impact areas including Washington Court House, Wilmington, Cedarville, Sabina, Jamestown, and communities along I-71 in Ohio between mile markers 50 and 79.

The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Visibility will be poor, and hydroplaning is possible. If you are outdoors, seek shelter inside a sturdy building immediately. Motorists should slow down and use extra caution on the roads.
