Residents in Logan, La Moure, McIntosh, and Dickey counties should seek shelter immediately due to a strong thunderstorm. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Bismarck, ND, issued a Special Weather Statement today, October 12, 2026, at 12:36 PM CDT, effective until 1:00 PM CDT.

At 12:35 PM CDT, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm located 12 miles southwest of Kulm, moving northeast at 35 mph. The storm is producing wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel-sized hail. Locations impacted include Kulm and Fredonia.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is also occurring. Lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.

If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. For your safety, seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle until the storm passes.
