The Rays fall short vs the Dodgers losing 4-3. The Rays got off to a fantastic start. Ryan Vilade destroyed a 2 run homer that quickly gave the Rays a 2-0 lead. The Rays added another run in the 2nd on a sac bunt by Taylor Walls to make it 3-0. The Dodgers got all the runs back in 1 swing when Kyle Tucker hit a 3 run homer to tie the game at 3. Both pitchers really settled in after that with no runs for the next 5 innings. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and was solid once again. He went 5.1 IP striking out 6 and allowing 3 runs. The Dodgers would take the lead in the 7th on a solo homer which made the game 4-3. The Rays had multiple chances to take the lead and then tie the game but could not come up with the big hit. The Rays will look to even the series tomorrow night. The Angels got the scoring started in the 4th scoring off a Taylor Walls error to make it 1-0. They added another 3 runs in the 6th to really put the game out of reach and making it 4-0. They added 4 more insurance runs in the 7th to put the final nail in the coffin for the Rays. Griffin Jax started tonight and was one of the lone bright spots. They would cash in on a Jonathan Aranda 2 RBI single to make it 4-2. The Rays would get a run back in the 9th to make it 4-3 and have the bases loaded with 2 outs to try and tie the game. But Cedric Mullins struck out to end the game. Shane McClahanan started for the Rays and struggled for the first time in a while. He only went 4 IP giving up 8 hits and 4 runs. Ryan Vilade caped off the scoring in the inning with a Sac Fly that made it 4-0. The Rays got an extra run in the 6th with a Yandy Diaz RBI single to make it 5-0. The Red Sox started their comeback in the 8th inning. They put up 4 runs in the inning to make it 5-4. But Cedric Mullins would give the Rays some much needed insurance in the 8th. He destroyed a 2 run homer to give the Rays some more breathing room at 7-4. The Sox got another run back in the 9th, but it was to little to late after that. Drew Rasmussen started for the Rays and was fantastic. He went 7 IP striking out 13 hitters and not allowing any runs. The Rays have an off day tomorrow, then they head to California to take on the Angels. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays FEND OFF the Boston Red Sox
The Rays hang on to beat the Red Sox 4-3. The Rays found themselves down 1-0 after the Red Sox scored the first run of the game in the 3rd inning. The Rays would respond with a massive 3 run 4th inning to take the lead. The scoring started for the Rays with a 2 out RBI single by Cedric Mullins. That was followed up by Ben Williamson smoking a double to make it 2-1. Nick Fortes capped off the inning with another RBI double that made it 3-1. The Rays picked up an insurance run in the 6th on a Richie Palacious RBI single to make it 4-1. The Red Sox cut the lead to 4-3 in the 8th. But some clutch pitching by Kevin Kelly and Bryan Baker held the lead for the Rays. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and was awesome for the first 7 innings. The Rays get swept by the Tigers, losing 7-2 in the series final. It was another slow start for the Rays. For the 3rd straight game the Rays found themselves down after the first inning. But the Rays would answer on a Yandy Diaz RBI single to tie the game at 1. The Tigers would add another run in the 2nd inning to make it 2-1. Then Cedric Mullins belted a solo homer to tie it at 2. That would be the last the offense would muster. The game got broken open in the 4th inning on a 3 run homer by the Tigers that made it 6-2. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and had his worst start of the season. He only went 4 IP giving up 6 runs. The Rays will have a much needed off day before heading to Miami to play the Marlins starting Friday night. RAYS POSTCAST: Tampa Bay Rays GET SHELLED by the Los Angeles Angels
The Rays drop the middle game of the series 14-3 to the Angels. It was a disaster from the start for the Rays. Drew Rasmussen, who has been fantastic this season, stumbled out of the gate. He gave up a Grand Slam in the first inning to give the Angels a 4-0 lead. Yandy Diaz hit a lead off homer for the 2nd straight game which made it 4-1. But the Rays stranded the bases loaded in the first to keep the score 4-1. That was one of two times during the game where the Rays left the bases loaded. The Angels would add 2 more runs in the 4th and the 5th to make it 6-1. But the Rays would make it a game again in the bottom of the 5th with a RBI double by Junior Caminero which was part of a 2 run inning that made it 6-3. The Rays would load the bases in the 6th inning but could not come through as the Angels added another run in the 7th to make it 7-3. They would then add salt in the wound putting up a 7 spot in the 9th to make it 14-3. The Rays will look to bounce back and take the series tomorrow afternoon vs the Angels. Steven Matz started for the Rays and allowed 3 runs before he recored an out. That was apart of a 5 run first inning for the Orioles which made it 5-0. It would not get any better for the Rays. After they could not cash in with bases loaded in the 3rd inning, the Orioles would add more runs. They added 1 in the bottom of the 3rd then another 2 in the 5th to make it 8-0. The Rays added 1 run in the 5th put the Orioles added their last 3 runs in the 6th and 7th to get all their 11 runs. This is the longest losing streak of the Rays season. he Rays drop the final game of the series 2-0 to the Yankees. The Rays offense could get nothing going off Yankees starter Ryan Weathers. The best chance the offense had to score was in the top of the 8th inning. Ryan Vilade hit what should have been a go ahead RBI single. But bad base running by Junior Caminero ruined that chance. Drew Rasmussen put together one of the best starts of his career. He went 7 IP for the first time in 3 years did not allow any runs and struck out 6 batters. The game remained a 0-0 tie until the 9th inning when Aaron Judge would hit the 2 run walk off homer. The Rays will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon vs Baltimore. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays COMEBACK AGAIN to beat the New York Yankees
The Rays continue to win, beating the Yankees 4-2. The Rays offense showed no life for the first 7 innings. Yankees starter Garrit Cole pitched 6 scoreless innings in his season debut. But the Bats would come alive in the 8th inning. After Simpson reached on an error and Junior singled the Rays had 1st and 3rd no one out. That is when the AL RBI leader came up and laced a RBI double to make it 1-1. Richie Palacious then hit a 2 run single up the middle to make it 3-1. Ryan Vilade hit a sac fly for the final run of the inning and made it 4-2. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and was stellar again. He went 6 IP only allowing 1 run and kept the Rays in the game. Ian Seymour came in after and pitched a big 1.2 IP before Kevin Kelly and Bryan Baker would shut it down. The Rays have won 9 straight series openers and will look for their 9th straight series win tomorrow afternoon. The Rays comeback to beat the Orioles 5-3. It was a pitchers duel for the first 5 IP of this game. Each team only scratching across one run each. The Rays run came off a the first career home run by Hunter Fedducia in the 2nd inning which made it 1-0. The Orioles added their run in the top of the 3rd to tie the game at 1. The game remained tied until the 6th inning. In the 6th the Orioles smacked 2 homers to take a 3-1 lead. The Rays offense looked dead until the 8th inning. With 2 outs Jonathan Aranda lined a 2 RBI single to tie the game. Then Richie Palacious hit the go ahead single right after to make it a 4-3 game. The Rays base running stole another run which made it 5-3. Ian Seymour came in to shut it down as the Rays move to 12-2 against the division so far. The Rays will head to New York to take on the Yankees over the weekend. The Rays win their 8th straight series, beating the Orioles 4-1. For the first time in a long time the Rays did not score first. That honor belonged to Taylor Ward of the Orioles who blasted a solo homer on the 2nd pitch of the game to make it 1-0. Rays started Griffin Jax shut it down after that. He finished going 5 IP striking out 6 and only allowing the 1 run. The Rays got the run right back in the bottom of the 1st. Yandy Diaz roped a RBI double to tie the game. The game remained tied until the 6th inning. That is when Yandy Diaz destroyed a solo homer to make it 2-1. The Rays would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th when Richie Palacios laced a RBI double to make it 3-1. Jonny DuLuca joined in on the fun in the 8th with a RBI single to make it 4-1. The Rays bullpen continues to be nails as they shut it down the last 4 innings to secure the win. The Rays will go for another sweep tomorrow afternoon. The Rays put up another 2 runs in the 4th highlighted by a Ryan Vilade RBI triple that made it 8-1. The Rays put up another 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th highlighted by a 3 run homer by Junior Caminero that made it 12-4. The Rays would not stop there putting up another 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th highlighted by a RBI double by Yandy Diaz. Both Yandy and Junior led the Rays with 4 RBIs apiece. RAYS POSTCAST: the Tampa Bay Rays RESPONDS IN A BIG WAY vs the Miami Marlins
The Rays win another series, beating the Marins 6-3. The Rays once again got off to a quick start. Junior Caminero launched a solo homer in the 1st to make it 1-0. But the Rays found themselves trailing 2-1 after the 3rd inning after the Marlins scored 2 runs. But the Rays would respond in a big way in the 4th inning. Taylor Walls smoked a bases clearing triple that made it 4-2. The Rays added more runs in the 5th and the 6th highlighted by a Yandy Diaz solo homer that made it 6-2. The Marlins would add a run in the 8th but at that point it was to late to match the Rays lead. The Rays have now won 7 straight series and they are the first team in the AL to reach 30 wins. The Rays will look to keep the momentum going tomorrow night vs the Orioles. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays get BLOWN OUT IN EXTRAS by the Miami Marlins
The Rays lose 10-5 in extras to the Marlins. It was a pitchers duel for the first 7 innings. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and was fantastic once again. He went 6 IP striking out 4 not allowing any runs. The Marlins countered with Sandy Alacantra who went 6 innings himself not allowing any earned runs. The Rays did scratch across a run in the 3rd on a Chandler Simpson RBI single that made it 1-0. That score held until the 7th innings. The Marlins would blast a homer in the 7th to tie it and a RBI double in the 9th gave them the lead. The Rays would answer in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game and send it to extras. But that is where everything went downhill for the Rays. The Rays allowed 8 runs in the top of the 10th to put the game out of reach. The Rays blast the Marlins 7-2. The Rays got out to a blazing start. Yandy Diaz lined a 2 run homer in the 1st inning that made it 2-0. The Marlins would answer back in the 2nd with a solo homer of their own to make it 2-1. But the Rays would respond right back in the bottom of the 2nd with a big inning. It started with a Hunter Feduccia sac fly to make it 3-1. Then Taylor Walls got another run home to double the Rays score to 4-1. The Rays kept adding runs in the 4th with a big Taylor Walls 2 RBI double to make it 6-1. Cedric Mullins capped off a 4 hit game with a solo homer in the 6th which made it 7-2. The Rays had Ian Seymour open the game before Jesse Scholtens took over for the bulk innings. Scholtens stayed solid once again going 5 IP striking out 4 and not allowing any runs. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays get WALKED OFF by the Toronto Blue Jays
The Rays get walked off, losing to the Blue Jays 5-3. It was a pitchers duel for the first 6 innings. Griffin Jax started for the Rays and went 5 strong innings not allowing any runs. The Blue Jays countered with Dylan Cease who went 7 IP only giving up 1 run. That one run came off the bat of Richie Palacious who ripped a RBI single in the 7th which made it 1-0. The Blue Jays would answer back in the 8th inning to tie the game at 1. The Rays had chances in the 8th and 9th inning to extend their lead but could not. The game would go into extras for the 2nd straight night. For the 2nd straight night the Rays would put up 2 runs in the top of the 10th. First it was Ben Williamson with a RBI single which made it 2-1. Then Yandy Diaz came up with a massive RBI single to make it 3-1. But with the Rays low of pitchers they had to turn to Aaron Brooks. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays HANG ON to beat the Toronto Blue Jays
The Rays find a way to hang on. Beating the Blue Jays 7-6 in extras. The Rays got off to a blazing start once again. It started with a Jonny DeLuca RBI double in the 1st that gave the Rays the lead. The Cedric Mullins looped a 2 RBI single in the 3rd which made it 3-0. The Rays would extend their lead in the 6th on a Taylor Walls run which made it 4-0. Then Ryan Vilade ripped a solo homer in the 7th which made it 5-0. Then everything fell apart for the Rays in the bottom of the 7th. The Blue Jays would score 5 runs in the 7th which would tie the game. The game would remain tied going into extra innings. In the 10th inning Taylor Walls laced a RBI single which made it 6-5. Jonathan Aranda gave the Rays some much needed insurance with a big sac fly to make it 7-5. Garrett Cleavinger got the save for the Rays as they continue this impressive winning stretch.
