The Guardians took the lead on a sac fly in the 3rd inning that made it 1-0. They extended their lead in the 5th inning on a 2 RBI single that made it 3-0. The Rays had a chance to tie the game in the 8th inning. They had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs but Jonathan Aranda could not come through. The Rays win their 6th game in a row, beating the Guardians 1-0. As the score indicates it was a big time pitching duel. For the Rays it was Nick Martinez turning in his 2nd straight dominant start. He would go 7 IP only allowing 3 hits and no runs. The Rays lone run came in the 5th inning. Jonathan Aranda looped a RBI single to give the Rays the lead for good. The Guardians biggest chance came in the 8th inning. They had the bases loaded with only 1 out and the Rays were able to get out of it with great pitching by Ian Seymour and Kevin Kelly. The Rays have now won 6 in a row as they continue to dominate against the American league as they are now 13-1 against the AL. The Rays will look for their 4th sweep of the season tomorrow afternoon. It was a pitching duel for the first 4.1 Innings until Cleveland got on the board with a 2 run homer in the 5th. The Rays offense would finally wake up in the 6th inning. Ryan Vilade stayed hot with a RBI single which made the game 2-1. The Rays would then break the game open in the 8th inning. It started with a Jonathan Aranda home run to tie the game at 2. Then Ryan Vilade stepped back up and knocked a RBI single to give the Rays the lead. The Rays pitching stayed stellar to hold on for the win. Steven Matz started for the Rays and was fantastic. The Rays sweep the Twins, winning the last game of the series 4-2. The Rays never trailed the entire series. The Rays would get all of their runs in the 3rd inning. It started with Jonathan Aranda staying hot and knocking a 2 RBI single to give the Rays a 2-0 lead. Yandy Diaz would come up right after him and blast a 2 run opposite field home run to give the Rays the lead. The Rays pitching staff held the Twins in check. It started with Griffin Jax who opened the game for the Rays. He went 2.1 IP striking out 2 and not giving up any runs. Jesse Sholtens came in after him and worked the bulk innings. He would go 4.1 IP only giving up 2 runs which came on a 2 run home run in the 7th inning that made the game 4-2. Cole Sulser worked 1.1 IP not giving up any runs before handing it to Rays closer Bryan Baker. Baker pitched a clean 9th inning picking up the save. The Rays beat the Twins 6-1. It was an all around great game for the Rays. It started with a Luke Fraley blasted a 2 run homer in the 4th to make it 2-0. Shane McClanahan held it down for the Rays. He went 5 IP allowing 0 runs and 7 strike outs. After McClanahan went out the Rays extended their lead. Ben Williamson had a RBI triple in the 7th to make it 3-0. Nick Fortes also had a RBI single which made it 4-0. The Rays would add another in the 7th then added one more in the 8th to cap off their scoring. The Tampa Bay Rays blast 4 home runs as they beat the Twins 6-2. The Rays got control of the game early. Junior Caminero blasted a 450 ft home run in the 1st inning to give the Rays a 1-0 lead. After a Chandler Simpson RBI ground out in the 3rd made it 2-0, Jonathan Aranda destroyed 1 of his 2 home runs of the night in the 4th inning to make it 3-0. The Twins would get one back in the 5th on a home run of their own to make it 3-1. The Rays would get that run right back in the 6th inning with another Jonathan Aranda homer which made it 4-1. Then Junior Caminero would knock his 2nd homer of the game in the 6th. He hit this 2 run homer 435 ft to make it 6-1. The Twins would add one in the 9th but the Rays lead would hold to secure the win. Drew Rasmussen started for the Rays and was fantastic. He went 6 IP striking out 6 and only allowing 1 run. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays bounce back and CRUSH the Cincinnati Reds
The Rays picked up a much-needed win, beating the Reds 6–1. Tampa Bay finally got off to a hot start, putting up three runs in the 2nd inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Ben Williamson to take a 3–0 lead. Then in the 3rd inning, Junior Caminero hit a monster home run to make it 4–0. The Reds got a run back in the 5th to make it 4–1, but the Rays answered right back in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Ryan Vilade to extend the lead to 5–1. Tampa Bay added another run in the 7th to make it 6–1. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and turned in the best performance by any Rays pitcher this year. The Rays drop their 3rd game in a row, losing to the Reds 12-6. It was a disaster from the start for the Rays. Rays starter Steven Matz gave up 3 home runs in the first 2 innings and it was 4-0 right away. It did not get better after that. The Reds added their 4th home run of the game in the 5th inning to make it 5-0. Then added 4 runs in the 6th inning to make it 9-0 and the rout was on from there. The Rays would get on the board with a Jonathan Aranda 2 run home run in the 6th which made it 9-2. The Reds would add even more runs in the 7th to make it 11-2. The Rays would pitch infielder Ben Williamson in the 9th. That would result in the Reds adding another run to make the final 12-2. The Rays added 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th. But it was way to late at that point to mount a comeback. The Rays will have a quick turnaround as they play an afternoon game tomorrow as they will look to salvage the last game of the series. The Rays answered right back in the bottom of the first scoring a run and having the bases loaded with 0 outs. That would be the only run the Rays would score as they would strand the bases loaded. After that the Reds continued to put on the pressure. They added a run in the 3rd to make it 3-1. Then they broke it open in the 6th with a 2 run double to make it 5-1. They added on an insurance run in the 7th to put the game even more out of reach. The Rays have now lost 3 out of their last 4 after winning 6 in a row. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays win an UNBELIEVABLE game vs the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Rays win an incredible game 8-7 against the Pirates. This will go down as one of the craziest games of the year. The Rays got down 4-0 after 4 innings. Then there was a 2 and a half hour rain delay. Right after the rain delay the Rays would take the lead game in the 5th inning with a 5 run 5th highlighted by a Jonny Deluca 2 run double. The score would remain 5-4 until the 8th inning. The Pirates would tie the game with a 2 out single to make it 5-5. Then the madness would start in extras. No one would score in the 10th inning. In the 11th Taylor Walls scored on an error all the way from 1st. The Pirates would tie the game in the bottom of the 11th. After no score in the 12th inning Cedric Mullins blasted a 2 run homer to take a 8-6 lead. But the Pirates would not go quietly. They would score to make it 8-7 and got the tying run to 3rd with 2 outs. But Yoendrys Gomez would get out of it to secure the win. The Tampa Bay Rays win streak stops at 6 after a 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Rays could never get it going in this one. After the Pirates took the lead in the 2nd inning to make it 1-0 it would be a pitchers duel until the 6th inning. In that inning Junior Caminero ripped a RBI single to tie the game. That Caminero hit would be just 1 of 3 Rays hits on the night. The Pirates big swing came off the bat of O'neil Cruz he destroyed a 2 run home run off Griffin Jax to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead in the 6th. The Pirates would add 2 more in the 9th to put the game away. The Rays offense could not gain any momentum after that as the Rays could not mount a comeback. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and battled. He went 5.1 giving up 8 hits and 3 walks but pitched around the damage to only give up 2 earned runs. The Rays push their win streak to 6 after their 4-3 win vs the Chicago White Sox. After trailing 1-0 after 3 innings, Taylor Walls continued his hot start to the season with an RBI single in the 4th inning making it 1-1. Runs were hard to come by for both teams in this one. The White Sox would scratch across another run in the 6th inning to make it 2-1. The Rays answered right back with a 2 out 2 strike RBI single by Richie Palacios to tie the game at 2. The White Sox would deal a major blow in the 8th inning. Former Ray Evanson Pereira hit the go ahead home run to give the White Sox the 3-2 lead. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays BEAT DOWN the Chicago White Sox for a big win
The Rays take the first game of the series, beating the White Sox 8-5. The Rays got up early in the first inning. Scoring 3 runs highlighted by a Ryan Vilade double. The Rays added a run in the 3rd on a Ben Williamson RBI double to make it 4-0. The White Sox would make the game close in the bottom of the 3rd with a 3 run homer to make it 4-3. But the Rays would take over from there. Scoring 4 runs in the 6th and 7th innings to take a 8-3 lead. In the 7th inning it was a pair of RBI doubled by Jonny DeLuca and Ben Williamson to put the game away. Shane McClanahan started for the Rays and picked up his first win in almost 2.5 years. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays complete the SWEEP of the New York Yankees
The Rays get their first sweep of the year, beating the Yankees 5-4. The Rays got on Yankees starter Cam Schlittler early. Scoring 3 runs in the first two innings highlighted by a Chandler Simpson RBI single in that 2nd inning. Rays starter Drew Rasmussen started for the Rays and was dominant. He went 6 IP only allowing 1 hit and struck out 7 batters. The Yankees would get to the Rays bullpen right away. Scoring 2 runs in the 7th inning to make it 3-2. The Rays would get an insurance run in the 8th and the 9th. First on a Junior Caminero sac fly that make it 4-2 then on a Taylor Walls bunt single to make it 5-2. The Yankees would make it interesting in the 9th inning with an Aaron Judge 2 run home run to make it 5-4. But the Rays would hold on to complete the sweep. The Tampa Bay Rays walk off the Yankees, winning 5-4. The Rays once again fell behind early. The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd. The Rays would answer right back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. The game would remain 1-1 until the bottom of the 6th when Jonathan Aranda would give the Rays the lead. The game would be 2-1 until the Yankees would take the lead in the top of the 8th inning. The Rays would again respond in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game and send it to extra innings. In extras, the Rays would bunt home a run to tie the game at 4. Then with 1 out and the bases loaded, Jonathan Aranda would hit a walk off infield single to give the Rays the win. The Tampa Bay Rays take down the New York Yankees 5-3. It was a disastrous start for the Rays. A first inning error led to the first run for the Yankees, then a misplayed ball in the outfield gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Rays pitching would then keep Yankee hitters hitless until the 8th inning. Yandy Diaz wasted no time tying the game in the bottom of the first. He belted a 2 run homer to tie the game. The Rays would then take the lead in the 2nd inning on a RBI fielders choice by Chandler Simpson. Simpson then gave the Rays some insurance in the 6th inning with a RBI single. Jonathan Aranda then got another run home to make it 5-2. A solo homer from the Yankees in the 8th would make it 5-3. But Bryan Baker would hold it down in the 9th to pick up the win. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays FALL FLAT vs the Chicago Cubs
The Rays lose the last game of the series to the Cubs 6-2. Things started slow for the Rays and did not get any better. The Rays allowed a lead off home run to start the game and that would be a sign of things to come. The Rays would get the run back in the 3rd inning on a sac fly by Jonathan Aranda. But the 5th inning for the Rays would be a disaster. 2 walks 3 errors and 5 runs later it was 6-1. The Rays would add a run in the 8th inning on a Jake Fraley RBI single. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays get DOMINATED by the Chicago Cubs
The Tampa Bay Rays dropped Game 2 of the series to the Chicago Cubs, 9-2, in a game that got away from them early. Chicago jumped on the Rays in the second inning with a pair of RBI hits to take a 2-0 lead, then added two more in the third. By the sixth, a home run from Pete Crow-Armstrong pushed the Cubs’ lead to 7-0 and put the game out of reach. The Rays showed a bit of life in the eighth when Jonathan Aranda drove in a run with an RBI double, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback. Making the spot start for Drew Rasmussen, Mason Englert struggled, allowing seven hits and three runs over 3.1 innings of work. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays BLAST 3 homers in a win vs the Chicago Cubs
The Tampa Bay Rays offense shines in the return to Tropicana field, beating the Cubs 6-4. For the first time in almost 2 years the Rays played a game at Tropicana field and it did not start out great. The Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. Then the Rays offense would explode from there. It started with a 2 run home run by Cedric Mullins to tie the game. Then Yandy Diaz hit a RBI single to take a 3-2 lead. In the 3rd inning Junior Caminero blasted a no doubt home run to make it a 4-2 lead. The Cubs would add a run in the 6th to make it 4-3. But Jonathan Aranda would deliver the dagger with a huge 2 run homer to make it 6-3. The Cubs would add a run in the 9th but it would be to little to late. Shane McClanahan started for the Rays and was up and down. He went 4 IP striking out 5 but allowed 4 walks and 2 runs. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays put up an EMBARRASSING performance vs the Minnesota Twins
The Tampa Bay Rays commit another 3 errors in a 10-4 to the Minnesota Twins. The Rays once again got off to a hot start. Nick Fortes drilled a 2 RBI double in the first inning to make it 2-0. Ben Williamson added a RBI double of his own in the 4th to make it 3-0. Then it all went downhill for the Rays. The Twins tied it in the bottom of the 4th thanks to an error by Carson Williams which could have led to the inning ending double play. The Rays would then fall apart in the 7th inning. In that inning the Rays would surrender: Hit by pitch, 2 errors, 2 bases loaded walks, and a grand slam. All of those would make the game 10-3. The Rays would add a run in the 8th but it would be to little to late. Joe Boyle was one of the few bright spots for the Rays. He went 5.1 IP striking out 9 and only allowing 2 ER. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays mistakes DOOM them in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers
The Tampa Bay Rays drop the second game of the series to the Brewers 6-2. The Rays bats got off to a hot start. For the 2nd straight game the Rays got a solo homer in the first inning. This time it was off the Bat of Jonathan Aranda to make it 1-0. The Rays got another solo home run from Nick Fortes in the 5th inning to make it 2-0. But after that things started to go wrong for the Rays. With the Bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th inning the Brewers hit a 2 RBI single to tie the game. A costly error in the same inning gave the Brewers a 3-2 lead and they would not look back. The Brewers would add 2 runs in the 6th inning, and one in the 8th to make it 6-2 and that would put the game out of reach. Shane McClanahan started for the Rays for the first time in over two years and was solid. He finished with a line of 4.2 IP 2 hits 2 ER and 4 K. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays OFFENSE IGNITES for a big win vs the St. Louis Cardinals
The Tampa Bay Rays pick up their first win of the year, beating the Cardinals 11-7. The Rays offense was on fire early and often. It started with a 3 run 2nd inning capped off by a RBI single by Yandy Diaz. The Rays would add another 3 runs in the 4th inning with 3 RBI doubles by Yandy Diaz, Jonathan Aranda, and Cedric Mullins. The Cardinals would make it interesting with a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 4th to make it 6-4. The Rays bullpen would keep that the score until the 3rd inning. In the top of the 8th inning the Rays had a pair of RBI singles to make it 8-4. Then Cedric Mullins would add a sac fly to make it 9-4. The Cardinals would add 3 runs in the 8th inning to make it 9-7. But a bunt single by Carson Williams and a RBI infield single by Yandy Diaz made it 11-7 and that would be enough to give the Rays the win. RAYS POSTCAST: The Tampa Bay Rays comeback FALLS JUST SHORT vs the St. Louis Cardinals
The Tampa Bay Rays drop the 2nd game of the series 6-5 to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Rays offense was non existent for the first 8 innings of the game. The Rays would tie the game in a wild 9th inning. It started with a RBI single by Chandler Simpson that made it 4-1. Then it was the Rays standout prospect Carson Williams with a 2 out 2 run single that made it 4-3. Then Nick Fortes continued his hot start to the year with a RBI single with legendary base running by Carson Williams tied the game. On the first pitch of extra inning Yandy Diaz lined a RBI single to give the Rays their first lead of the game.All of the Cardinals runs against Rays starter Joe Boyle came in the first inning. After that Boyle would shut them down. He finished with a line of 6 IP 3 hits 2 runs and 4 strikeouts. The Cardinals would add 2 runs in the 9th to put the Rays for what they thought were insurance runs until the Rays comeback in the 9th. The Cardinals would walk off the Rays on a 2 RBI single in the bottom off the 10th.
