Little River residents remember Janet Elizabeth Harris Ethridge, 78, who passed away on Friday, August 21. Mrs. Ethridge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family includes stepdaughters in Little River and Tabor City, NC.
Born in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Ethridge was the daughter of Charles and Charlotte (Smith) Harris. She dedicated many years to her career with the Hylton Group, where she worked from 1980 through 2018. Her years of work were an important part of her life and the legacy she leaves behind.
Mrs. Ethridge is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lynn E. Ethridge of Woodbridge, Virginia. She also leaves behind her children, Charlotte (Chris) Belden of Moberly, Missouri, and Max (Paula) Acker of Eustis, Florida. Her stepdaughters include Candice (Robert) Bardon of Little River, Michelle Ethridge (Steven Dehaven) of Winchester, Virginia, and Angelique (Larry) Franklin of Tabor City, North Carolina. She was a beloved grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In her younger years, Mrs. Ethridge enjoyed ceramics and crafts. She was also an avid collector of Raggedy Ann memorabilia. She had a special love for cats, who brought her great joy throughout her life, though she found no joy greater than her grandchildren.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Janet's memory to the Humane Society of Northern Virginia. This organization supports the animals she loved so dearly.
