AMARILLO, TX – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Amarillo has issued a Dense Fog Advisory effective immediately until 11:00 AM CDT today, September 28, 2026. Motorists in affected areas are urged to exercise extreme caution while driving.

Visibility is significantly reduced to one-quarter mile or less due to dense fog. This condition makes driving hazardous and increases the risk of accidents.

The advisory covers the following areas: In Oklahoma, Beaver and Texas Counties. In Texas, Hansford, Hutchinson, Lipscomb, Moore, Ochiltree, Roberts, and Sherman Counties.

The NWS advises all drivers to slow down, use their headlights, and maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles. These precautions are critical for your safety and the safety of others on the road.
