A Wind Advisory has been issued for the South Central Highlands and Upper Tularosa Valley, effective immediately until 12:00 PM MDT today, October 2. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque, NM, advises residents to use extra caution, especially when driving high-profile vehicles.

Northeast winds are expected to reach speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 50 to 55 mph. These conditions can make driving difficult and may blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could also be blown down.

The strongest winds are anticipated to be focused across the White Sands Missile Range. Drivers should expect strong crosswinds on area roadways. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items to prevent damage or injury.
