Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Lincoln County Urged to Shelter Indoors

LINCOLN, CO – Residents in East Central Lincoln County are advised to seek immediate shelter indoors due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service in Denver. The warning is in effect from 3:41 PM MDT until 4:15 PM MDT today, September 20.

At 3:41 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles north of Boyero, approximately 29 miles southeast of Limon, moving southeast at 30 mph. This storm is capable of producing dangerous two-inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts, according to radar indications.

The National Weather Service warns that people and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is also anticipated. Hail may accumulate on roadways, leading to hazardous travel conditions.

Locations specifically impacted include Boyero. Anyone outdoors should move immediately to shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows.
