Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Northeastern Lincoln County

Residents in northeastern Lincoln County, Colorado, including the communities of Arriba and Genoa, are advised to immediately seek shelter indoors due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service in Denver. The warning is in effect from 2:30 PM MDT until 3:15 PM MDT today, September 20.

At 2:30 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Genoa, approximately 9 miles east of Limon, moving east at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and half-dollar-sized hail, according to radar indications.

Impacts are expected to include hail damage to vehicles, and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Hail accumulation on roadways may also lead to hazardous travel conditions. When sheltering, stay away from windows.
