Gas Leak Reported at Lighthouse Point Address Originally Called for Overdose

Lighthouse Point, FL – Emergency crews are now responding to a reported gas leak and gas odor at 2600 NE 36th St, the same location where units were initially dispatched for an overdose incident.

The initial call, dispatched at 11:31 PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, was for an overdose, according to emergency dispatch. However, a subsequent dispatch update indicated a gas leak/gas odor at the address, according to emergency dispatch.

In total, 10 units have been dispatched to the scene. The original dispatch included R22, RADIO/NDO, RADIO/TAC1, DN/BC17, DN/HM17, BC/E23, E22, FL/HM53, FL/BC46, and FL. Three additional units were dispatched following the gas leak report, bringing the total number of responding units to 10, according to emergency dispatch.

The nature of the original overdose report and its connection, if any, to the reported gas leak is not yet clear. Officials have not released further details.
