Osceola Library System Awarded Financial Literacy Grant

The Osceola Library System has exciting news! The Library has been awarded the Financial Literacy Grant by the Florida Literacy Coalition, in partnership with Wells Fargo. From March 2026 – November 2026, the Library will facilitate financial literacy presentations, during the E.S.O.L. programs, at the following branch locations: Buenaventura Lakes Library E.S.O.L. for Beginners – 6pm, every Thursday West Osceola Library E.S.O.L. for Beginners – 11am, every Monday E.S.O.L. Conversation Hour – 10am, every Friday St. Cloud Library E.S.O.L. for Beginners – 10am, every Friday E.S.O.L. Conversation Hour – 12pm, 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month The topics for the presentations include budgeting, banking basics, credit management, and identity theft prevention. Each student will be given a “passport” to track involvement in the financial literacy presentations. Students who complete their passports will be eligible to receive a financial planner at the end of November 2026. Additionally, a gift card will be raffled during each presentation! In addition to the financial lessons and presentations, each E.S.O.L. class will complete a group project to apply their newly gained knowledge. The financial literacy grant aims to enhance the existing E.S.O.L. programs by incorporating financial literacy instruction into the curriculum. This initiative recognizes that many E.S.O.L. learners face challenges navigating the United States’ economic systems due to both language and cultural barriers. By integrating practical financial education topics into English language lessons, students will gain essential life skills while continuing to strengthen their English proficiency. The Library will use Hands on Banking, a financial education program sponsored by Wells Fargo and designed for classroom use, to support instruction on these topics. The Library is also partnering with Truist Bank and InCharge Debt Solutions, a leading nonprofit financial education provider.
