Liberty Schools $50M Upgrade: New Athletic Field Complete
Liberty Central School District completed the first phase of a $50 million capital improvement plan, installing bleachers, a pressbox, lights, scoreboard and turf at the athletic field. Track work will finish this spring.
District voters approved the multiphase plan in 2024 and 2025. The projects address safety needs, efficiency upgrades and modern learning spaces with no additional tax burden.
Construction crews are building a new maintenance facility that will free up high school space for an Innovation Lab conversion.
Phase two targets the middle and high school buildings. High school work includes the Innovation Lab conversion, asbestos abatement, renovations in the 300 wing and cafeteria, generator replacement, stair removal, and upgrades to HVAC controls, carbon monoxide alarm systems and code-mandated safety items. Middle school improvements include site drainage work, electrical main distribution panel replacement, interior door replacement, HVAC control upgrades, carbon monoxide alarm system enhancements and a new emergency generator.
The final phase begins in 2027, with all projects scheduled for completion by fall 2027. Elementary school work will include HVAC system upgrades for heating and cooling to meet new state temperature regulations, roofing repairs and upgrades, asbestos flooring abatement and replacement, wood flooring replacement, new compliant railing on interior gym bleachers, and carbon monoxide alarm system and gym ventilation upgrades. The district office will receive carbon monoxide alarm system upgrades and generator replacement.
Superintendent Dr. Patrick Sullivan said the district is committed to providing students and the community with safe, productive and modern spaces.
