Liberty High School Photographers Win 65 Awards

Liberty High School photographers win 65 awards at regional competition

Liberty High School photographers captured 65 awards at the Mid-Hudson Regional Scholastic competition, setting a district record.

The photography wins reflect a broader expansion of arts programs across the district. Fourth graders now begin instrumental music lessons, with opportunities to advance to honors ensembles by high school. Theater programs span elementary, middle and high school, with the district presenting four shows annually.

Student musicians perform at winter and spring concerts, the Jazz Festival, parades and the Liberty Music and Community Festival. Liberty hosted the annual All-County Music Festival this year. Visual arts students display work at countywide and districtwide exhibitions.

Middle School Principal Heather Cheh said strong arts programs correlate with better academic outcomes. The district earned recognition as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for seven consecutive years.
