A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Northern Liberty County, including Hosford and Bristol, as of 4:52 PM EDT today, October 7, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. Tropical storm-force winds are possible within the next 48 hours. Residents should complete preparations immediately.

Wind gusts up to 30 mph are expected, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including to porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes. Secure loose outdoor objects now. Scattered power and communication outages are possible.

A major flooding rain threat has increased, with additional rainfall amounts of 3-6 inches and localized higher amounts expected. Emergency plans should account for major flooding, and evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.

The NWS also indicates a potential for a few tornadoes. Have a plan for quick shelter if a tornado warning is issued. There is little to no threat of storm surge flooding.

This alert is effective immediately and expires at 1:00 AM UTC on October 8. For more information, visit weather.gov/tallahassee or floridadisaster.org.
