Irmo Mayor's Initiative Funds Food for Youngs Chapel Summer Camp

Mayor Bill Danielson and Councilwoman Phyllis Coleman presented a $6,250 donation to Youngs Chapel AME Church to cover food costs for the church's Enrichment Center Summer Camp in 2026.

The Mayor's Uplift Initiative grant removes a financial barrier for Irmo families. Rev. Frederick A. Wilson thanked the initiative for "feeding the wonderful children of Irmo."

The camp offers academic enrichment in reading and math, hands-on STEM activities, character-building sessions, and early exposure to college and career paths. The program pairs health and nutrition education with structured recreation.

Registration opens in two weeks. Parents can find details and schedules on the Youngs Chapel AME Church website. Spots are expected to fill quickly.
