UUSD Distributes Final Roy Parks Grants in Sussex County
The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware distributed the final $25,000 from Roy Parks' estate this month, awarding grants to Sussex Help and La Esperanza. Both organizations will use the money to assist families of people detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Sussex County, where detentions often leave households without a primary wage earner.
The five-year grant program distributed $25,000 total to Sussex County nonprofits. Jan Daily, Vicki Nichols, and Mac Goekler managed the program. Vicki Nichols presented the final check to Lluvia Ramirez Cruz, administrative assistant at La Esperanza, closing out the fund established in Parks' memory.
