A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for Coastal Levy, including Cedar Key, Yankeetown, and Fowler Bluff, effective October 7 at 11:13 AM EDT by the NWS Tampa Bay Ruskin FL. This means life-threatening inundation from rising water moving inland is possible within the next 48 hours.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for potential storm surge flooding of 2-4 feet above ground, with significant impacts expected. These include damage to buildings, weakened near-shore escape routes, major beach erosion, and damage to marinas. The window of concern for storm surge is from Friday morning until Saturday morning.

If evacuation orders are given for your area, you must leave. Failure to heed these orders could result in loss of life. Assemble disaster supplies and know your evacuation route now.

Additional rainfall of 2-4 inches is forecast, with localized flooding possible. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Wind speeds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, with little to no impacts from wind or tornadoes. Stay informed of forecast changes. For more information, visit weather.gov/tbw.
