The National Weather Service in Jackson, KY, reports that southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 to 50 mph, are expected. These stronger gusts will primarily affect higher terrain above 1,500 feet and valleys immediately northwest of the Pine, Black, Cumberland, and Log Mountains. Communities at greatest risk for the strongest winds include Cumberland, Eolia, Chenoa, Frakes, and Mayking.
Areas further from these prominent mountains can expect southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph, with occasional gusts between 20 and 35 mph.
Impacts from these strong winds may include unsecured objects being blown around, downed tree limbs, and potential power outages. Driving can become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
