Nashville Airport May Be Renamed for Dolly Parton

Airport officials have begun the process of renaming Nashville International Airport to honor Tennessee icon Dolly Parton.
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority voted unanimously on Sept. 11 to pursue the name change, recognizing Parton's contributions to music, culture, and philanthropy. The board vote followed a proposal that garnered support from Tennessee leaders and public enthusiasm.
Parton, a lifelong Tennessee resident, has built a career spanning over six decades. She is also widely celebrated for her philanthropic endeavors, including her Imagination Library program, which provides books to children.
The airport is expected to retain its current BNA code. Further planning is necessary before the change is officially implemented.
