A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Leon County, including Tallahassee, Woodville, and Bradfordville, effective immediately until October 8 at 7:15 PM UTC. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee warns that tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours.
Residents should act now to complete preparations for hazardous winds, with peak gusts potentially reaching 35 mph. Expect limited wind damage, including to porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes. Large tree limbs may break, and some power outages are possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain forecast, potentially leading to moderate flooding. Emergency plans should include the possibility of evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, some potentially intense.
