Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Claiborne, Hancock (TN), Lee (VA)

Residents in northeastern Claiborne County (TN), northwestern Hancock County (TN), and southwestern Lee County (VA) should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Morristown, effective until 12:30 AM EDT on September 22.

As of 11:45 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Cubage, approximately 11 miles east of Middlesboro, moving east at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Radar has indicated these hazards.

Impacts are expected to include hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Areas affected include Harrogate, Rose Hill, Cumberland Gap, Ewing, Evanston, and Powell River Preserve.
