Tupelo, Mississippi is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning, issued today, October 9, at 4:09 PM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Memphis, TN. Residents in Tupelo should complete all preparations immediately as hazardous wind and moderate flooding rain are expected.

Wind speeds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are anticipated, with potential for winds between 39 to 57 mph. Damage to outdoor structures, such as porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes, is possible. Large tree limbs may break, and some trees could snap or uproot, leading to scattered power and communication outages. Driving conditions may become hazardous on bridges and elevated roadways due to debris. Prepare for these conditions by securing loose outdoor items and completing property protection efforts now.

A Flood Watch is also in effect for Tupelo. The NWS forecasts 1-3 inches of rain, with higher localized amounts, which could lead to moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and small streams and ditches could overflow. Floodwaters may enter structures and cause road closures. Residents in flood-prone areas should consider protective actions. Heed all flood watches and warnings, as failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Tornadoes are not expected, but gusty winds are possible. This warning is effective until October 10, 2026, at 12:15 AM UTC.
