Clearwater, FL (March 20, 2026) – BayCare’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) program is excited to announce that it has doubled in size after a successful 2026 Match Day. This achievement reflects BayCare’s commitment to training the next generation of physicians and expanding access to high-quality medical care in the community. Match Day is an annual event where graduating medical students across the country learn where they will complete their residency training. BayCare’s GME program offers residencies and fellowships in a variety of specialties, including internal medicine, family medicine, general surgery, and pharmacy. The expansion of the program will allow BayCare to train even more residents and fellows, further enhancing the quality and scope of medical services available to patients. “We are thrilled to have such a successful Match Day and to welcome a new class of talented and dedicated residents and fellows to BayCare,” said Dr. Raquel Gonzalez, Designated Institutional Official for BayCare’s GME program. “This expansion is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and residents, and it will allow us to continue to provide outstanding medical education and patient care.” BayCare’s GME program is committed to providing a supportive and challenging learning environment for residents and fellows. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum, state-of-the-art facilities, and a diverse patient population. Residents and fellows have the opportunity to work alongside experienced physicians and other health care professionals, gaining valuable clinical experience and developing the skills they need to succeed in their careers. “We are proud of the growth and success of our GME program,” said Stephanie Stewart, Vice President of Academic Affairs for BayCare. “This expansion will allow us to continue to attract top medical talent to the region and to provide our patients with the highest quality of care.” BayCare is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to the communities it serves. The expansion of the GME program is just one example of BayCare’s commitment to investing in the future of health care.
