The South Florida Water Management District has issued a Water Shortage Warning that includes Key Biscayne due to ongoing dry conditions and increased water use. These factors have lowered water levels in the Biscayne Aquifer — our community’s sole source of drinking water.
The Village of Key Biscayne is also taking proactive steps to conserve water. We are reducing irrigation timing in select parks and limiting pressure washing activities to cut back on non-essential water use.
There are no mandatory restrictions at this time, and water service remains uninterrupted. However, residents are strongly encouraged to voluntarily reduce non-essential water use to help stabilize aquifer levels and prevent stricter measures in the future.
What You Can Do:
Skip lawn irrigation until the warning is lifted
Delay car washing, boat washing, and pool refilling
Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads
Check for leaks indoors and outdoors
Upgrade to high-efficiency fixtures
