Taxpayer Alert Real and personal property tax statements are mailed annually beginning in October. Taxpayers are responsible for property taxes on real and/or personal property which they owned January 1 of the tax year. If you do not receive a tax statement, please contact our office, as failure to receive a statement does not relieve the taxpayer of the responsibility to pay taxes and any late penalty or interest that may accrue. Taxpayers have from October 1 through December 31 to pay current year taxes. Any taxes not paid by December 31 are considered delinquent and are subject to interest, penalty and collection costs. The Revenue Commissioner sets the value on property and our office mails and collects taxes based on those values.
