The morning begins with a pre-ceremony at 8:00 AM, featuring musical performances by the Voices of Jacksonville and The Navy Band, setting a respectful and reflective tone for the day. The official ceremony begins at 8:30 AM at the Veterans Memorial Wall, where the community will gather in tribute to Jacksonville’s fallen heroes. Attendees are encouraged to wear patriotic attire as a sign of unity and remembrance. This annual observance serves as a powerful reminder of the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our freedoms. Honor someone who has made a difference in your life by participating in the Flags for Heroes display this Memorial Day weekend in Jacksonville. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Riverside Jacksonville, this meaningful tribute features a powerful display of American flags at Memorial Park. Each sponsored flag represents a personal hero—whether military, first responder, parent, teacher, mentor, or community leader—creating a moving visual of gratitude and remembrance. From May 23–25, 2026, hundreds of 3’ x 5’ American flags will be proudly displayed on 9-foot flagpoles throughout the park. Each flag includes a personalized recognition medallion bearing the names of both the honored hero and the sponsor, making every tribute uniquely meaningful.
