It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Eric J. Alexander, 69, of Naples Florida on March 20,2026.Eric was born on October 24th,1956 in Lancaster, Ohio. Eric was the youngest son of Donald and Mary Jo Alexander and grew up working at Alexanders Landing, their family-owned marina on Buckeye Lake, in Millersport, Ohio.On land, he excelled at football and basketball at Millersport High School was All State in Ohio for both sports. His football prowess led him to The Ohio State University Varsity Football team where he played both ways (offense receiver and defensive end) under the legendary coach Woody Hayes. The Buckeyes won the Rose Bowl Game in 1975. He was a proud Number 84.Yet with his family roots still calling and the fish still biting, Eric became a Certified Marine Mechanic, a licensed Maritime Captain and moved to Tampa Florida in 1981 where he quickly immersed himself in Gulf fishing and worked as a mechanic, boat rigger, and sales professional.In 1988, he began his career as a Charter Captain with Lone Wolf Charter Systems, in Naples Florida where he worked for more than a decade.When that company moved, Captain Eric founded his own business, Captain Eric, Inc., spent 34 more years fishing the Gulf of Mexico year-round from Naples as Captain Eric Inc. and Team Lobo.As he expanded his business, Eric also diversified his fishing portfolio to become Naples only Rod & Reel Repair business.Eric was the beloved husband of 27 years and college sweetheart of Robin Dorsey Alexander, loving brother of Chris Alexander (his wife Robin) and sister, the late Anita Alexander; treasured brother-in-law to Jocelyn Dorsey Gebre-Hiwet, cherished Uncle to Robert FM Gebre-Hiwet and his other nephews and niece.Eric was a father figure to his Captains and business partners; Brandon Lawson (Kellie), Howard Bayless (Carolin) and Kyle Stevens (Kylie)He will be sorely missed by his clients, many of whom have become our extended family and all of his friends.
