Dear Friends,  1. Join us for Worship this Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 McGregor Blvd at 11:30am followed by coffee hour .    2. Chuck Ketteman and I will be accompanying the adjustors from Church Insurance along with a representative from our restoration company to the church property tomorrow for the ongoing assessment. Work will begin as soon as the equipment arrives by barge; just a reminder that no parishioners should be in the buildings on the church property.    3.  Coming next week, Friday  Oct. 21, “ After The Storm - Taking Care of Ourselves and Each Other ”. Please join Rev. Suzy Post for a gathering, and support time where we can share and listen to each other. Please come and share your story in a safe, trusting prayerful place.- Friday, October 21, 10:00 a.m. Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers, Fl. 33908   4.  Staff will be sitting at tables in the fellowship hall at Peace after the service on Sunday to answer any questions you have, conduct any business, and be a "drop off" or "pick up" station. If you have any office, parish nurse, finance or communication questions, this is great way to get them answered!   5. Unless there is important breaking news, there won't be a Moving Forward Update on Fridays (Susan will publish the Friday Brief instead) or on Sundays.    6. If you have items to donate , please drop them off at the Kiwanis Thrift Shop at the corner of San Carlos and Summerlin. They are giving items away to those in need.  Resources :    Info from tonight's City Briefing : Sue spent time at the Crowne Plaza this afternoon and tonight and highly suggests that if you are in town and have a question or concern to go the temporary city hall . The Mayor, City Manager, City Councilors and City staff are all there and available before and after the 5:00pm briefing to answer questions. We owe a debt of gratitude to this dedicated city employees who in the midst of dealing with their own personal losses are working very hard on our behalf.   Some items for Sanibel Residents : 1. Residents, especially those who are older are experiencing health issues if they go on island and not realize how physically demanding it can be. You need to stay hydrated and be very careful walking in the slippery silt that is present.  2. You can watch the recording of each night's briefing  https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100068081412480    Tonight there was an in-depth update from LCEC. Before any home is energized, they will need to have a certificate from a licensed electrician that has checked the home.    3. Hybrid, electric and fuel cell vehicles are designed to be safe in the water, even when fully submerged. However, submersion in water (especially salt water) can damage low- and high-voltage components, resulting in an electrical short and potential fire once the vehicle is no longer submerged. Sanibel Fire is asking that any resident that left an electric vehicle, including golf carts in or near property to contact Greta Fulkerson by email ( [email protected] ) with the following information: Name, phone number, address, type(s) of vehicle(s) on property.  4. The City has issued “ Sanibel Guidance for Assisting Residents with LCEC Power Activation ” for properties where flood waters may have affected a structure’s electrical system. Please  click here  to view the document.  5. The City has issued “ Sanibel Guidance for Construction-Related Work That May be Completed Without a Building Permit ” to inform residents about work that may be completed without a building permit. Please  click here  to view the document.   6. Mail Pick up for Sanibel, Captiva and Fort Myers Beach residents is now at : Jetport Loop Mail Facility (14080 Jetport Loop, Fort Myers) Hours: 9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Saturday. So far ourselves and others we know have not had any mail yet when going to pick it up, so it might be awhile longer and no necessary to go every day.  Peace,  Bill+
