Chelsea Veterans Home Demolishes Quigley Building April 21
The Massachusetts Veterans Home will demolish the vacant Quigley building at 100 Summit Avenue beginning no earlier than Tuesday, April 21. The work will take six to ten weeks, with construction occurring weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Executive Office of Veterans Services will convert the cleared site into a parking lot, green space, and park for residents, visitors, and neighbors. Approximately 20 trucks will haul materials daily, departing every 30 minutes and traveling through the Keville building parking lot onto Hillside Avenue and Summit Avenue.
The rear entrance to the Skilled Nursing Facility near the loading dock and Saint Michael's Chapel will close temporarily. Staff and deliveries will use the fire lane on Summit Avenue. Chapel services will continue. Visitor parking and SNF access will remain unchanged.
The state will restrict pedestrian access near the work zone and install temporary gates, speed bumps, and controlled vehicle access points. Contact Construction Coordinator Patrick Kenney at [email protected] or 617-884-5660 with questions.
