Sheriff's Office seeks public's help locating missing Grant County man

The Grant County Sheriff's Office is asking for the community's assistance in locating Billy Gene Hill, an 83-year-old white male who has been reported missing. Many in the Silver City area will remember Mr. Hill from his days working in the region's rich mining history.

Hill is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has grey hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen in the Santa Rita area, a place steeped in the legacy of copper mining. At the time of his last sighting, Hill was reportedly driving a tan 2007 Ford Ranger pickup truck. The truck has an Arizona license plate number BGB1685 and was fitted with a white camper shell.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone who may have seen Billy Gene Hill or has any information regarding his current whereabouts to contact them immediately. The Sheriff's Office can be reached by phone at (575) 574-0100.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of his disappearance or when he was last seen, but the Sheriff's Office is actively working to locate Mr. Hill and ensure his safety, keeping in mind the vastness of the Gila National Forest that borders the county.
