Residents across all of Middle Tennessee should prepare for strong winds and exercise caution today. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville has issued a Wind Advisory effective immediately, October 10, at 11:01 AM CDT, until 8:00 PM CDT this evening.

Northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph are expected, with gusts potentially reaching up to 40 mph. Higher elevations may experience gusts up to 50 mph. This advisory impacts the following counties: Stewart, Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner, Macon, Clay, Pickett, Houston, Humphreys, Dickson, Cheatham, Davidson, Wilson, Trousdale, Smith, Jackson, Putnam, Overton, Fentress, Perry, Hickman, Lewis, Williamson, Maury, Marshall, Rutherford, Cannon, De Kalb, White, Cumberland, Bedford, Coffee, Warren, Grundy, Van Buren, Wayne, Lawrence, and Giles.

Gusty winds can blow around unsecured outdoor objects. The NWS warns that tree limbs could be blown down, and isolated power outages may occur. Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should use extra caution as strong winds can make driving difficult. Secure loose items outside your home and be prepared for potential power disruptions.
