JONES COUNTY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS, has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Jones County, effective immediately as of October 9 at 3:56 PM CDT. While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, gusts up to 45 mph are possible. Residents should ensure emergency readiness should the forecast change and listen for instructions from local officials.

Localized flooding from heavy rain remains a potential threat. No additional significant rainfall is forecast, but residents in flood-vulnerable areas should consider protective actions. Be prepared for potential localized flooding that could lead to a few evacuations, rising rivers, swollen small streams, and some road closures. Heed any flood watches and warnings.

Tornadoes are not expected, according to the NWS. The warning is set to expire on October 10 at 12:00 AM UTC. Stay informed of any changes to the forecast.
