GOVERNOR HOCHUL DIRECTS FLAGS TO HALF STAFF IN HONOR OF RETIRED NEW YORK STATE POLICE ZONE SERGEANT STEVEN W. GREENE Flags To Be Flown at Half-Staff Across New York State Friday, October 31 Governor Kathy Hochul today directed that flags on all state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of retired New York State Police Zone Sergeant Steven W. Greene who passed away on October 24, 2025 from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 terrorist attack. Flags will be flown at half-staff on Friday, October 31 from sunrise to sunset. "I am directing flags across New York State to be lowered in honor of retired New York State Police Zone Sergeant Steven W. Greene," Governor Hochul said. "Today, we hold Sergeant Greene's family and loved ones in our thoughts as we pay tribute to his life and legacy. Sergeant Greene stood in service to others during a time of profound need for our State, and we are grateful for his courage, commitment and lasting impact of his service." Sergeant Greene retired from the New York State Police on July 17, 2002 after 20 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and his sons, Robert and Daniel.

Example: Report it to an adult like the School Resource Officer, Principal, or through FortifyFL. Who can a threat negatively affect? Example: Students, parents, school, your future. What can threats result in? Example: Detention/suspension, arrest, charged with a felony. What happens if you make a threat and get arrested? Example: You can be charged with a felony and be sent to juvenile detention. This stays on your record and can affect your probability of getting a job, being able to vote in the future, obtaining scholarships, or even going to college. Regardless of the nature of a threat, each incident is assigned to a detective to ensure no red flags are missed and appropriate action is taken in each and every case.

City Council Approves Resolution Awarding Disaster Debris Monitoring for Bonita Springs

"City Council Approves Disaster Debris Monitoring Resolution City of Bonita Springs Council members approve a Resolution awarding Disaster Debris Monitoring for Bonita Springs RFP 26-07 to Thompson Consulting Services as the primary vendor and Rostan Solutions as the secondary vendor. (Green Sheet 26-06-101 ATTACHED) BACKGROUND: On April 14, 2026, City staff advertised for sealed two-step proposals for Disaster Debris Monitoring for Bonita Springs RFP 26-07 and on May 12, 2026, the City received four (4) sealed proposals for the project. On June 1, 2026, the Selection Committee met to evaluate the four (4) proposals and short-listed Thompson Consulting Services, DebrisTech, and Rostan Solutions to proceed to Step Two where pricing would be opened and considered. The Step Two Pricing was opened for Thompson Consulting Services, DebrisTech, and Rostan Solutions and disseminated to the Selection Committee for review and consideration. On June 4, 2026, the Selection Committee met to evaluate pricing and total rankings and recommended award to two firms in the following order: • Primary: Thompson Consulting Services - $332.50 (Total of Hourly Rates – Items 1-6) • Secondary: Rostan Solutions - $338.00 (Total of Hourly Rates – Items 1-6) Pricing is based on Post-Event Standard Positions (Items 1-6) of the Proposal which includes the most frequently required services. Alternate Positions that may be needed were also included as price items within the RFP; thus, award of Alternate Positions at the prices in each vendor's proposal is also requested as part of this recommendation and Resolution. Staff is recommending awarding Disaster Debris Monitoring for Bonita Springs RFP 26-07 to Thompson Consulting Services as the primary vendor and Rostan Solutions as the secondary vendor. This is in compliance with the City's submission for reimbursement from FEMA for disaster response."

City Council Approves Cafe' of Life Installation of Artificial Turf at Leitner Neighborhood Park

"On April 27, 2026, the City received a written request from the executive director of the Café of Life requesting approval to install a 50-foot by 120-foot section of artificial turf within the playground area of Leitner Neighborhood Park. The proposed improvement is intended to enhance the appearance of the playground and increase its functionality for park users. Consistent with the Lease Agreement, the Café of Life will fully fund the project at a cost of $46,323.64 and will apply for and secure all required permits. RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution authorizing the Café of Life to install artificial turf within the Leitner Neighborhood Park playground field, with the project fully funded and all required permits obtained by the Café of Life. BACKGROUND: On February 20, 2013, the City Council adopted Ordinance 13-03, authorizing a Public-Private Partnership Lease Agreement with the Café of Life for the use of Leitner Park as a meal service center during designated hours. The Lease Agreement was subsequently renewed for an additional ten-year term on April 5, 2023, through City Council's adoption of Ordinance 23-01. Under Section 3 of the Lease Agreement, the Café of Life is responsible for installing and maintaining all site improvements at its own expense, as well as for maintenance of Leitner Neighborhood Park."
